The aim of this action is to pilot actions to increase the number of students pursuing digital studies and careers, with a special focus on increasing participation of girls. It will support joint actions between leading technical higher education institutions, businesses and schools to promote digital studies, through hands-on activities and challenge-based projects. ExpectedOutcome:
Stronger cooperation between primary, secondary and VET schools and tertiary education and research to increase the number of pupils enrolling in digital studies aiming at gender convergence.

This will lead to the development of:

  • Summer schools
  • Specialised information and career days
  • Dissemination and outreach activities, such as EU Code Week

Another aim of this action is to scale-up the EU Code Week initiative, putting it on stronger and broader footing, thus further increasing its impact beyond the > 4 million people reached every year, among which almost half are young women and girls.

 

The Action 1.7 E-learning and Skills Development: Promotion of the Interregional Competitiveness, Development, and employment & Career Center for the Aegean Researchers is implemented by University of the Aegean and is funded by the Initiative “Regional Excellence”, under the Operational Program “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation” (EPAnEK),with total budget 3 million Euro.

Contract number MIS 5046494 Act ” The Research and Technology Network of the Aegean Archipelagos: Strengthening Regional Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Excellence”[e- Aegean R&D Network], Subproject 2 “North Aegean Communities for Knowledge, Innovation & Entrepreneurship [e-Aegean Communities]”.

The Initiative “Regional Excellence” is targeting Greek regions that are lagging behind in R&D performance (Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Western Macedonia, Epirus, Peloponnese, Continental Greece, North Aegean, South Aegean, Ionian Islands). It provides funding for research infrastructures and equipment in HEIs and public research centers, as well as for the support of research teams in order to respond to the priorities of the respective regional RIS3 strategies. It is co-funded by Greece and the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union.
